An alliance of these women can move Guyana forward

Dear Editor,

The way in which some politicians approach politics over the years has to change for Guyana to rise above mediocrity. We, the citizens, have become complacent, leaving us unbothered. Our interest in politics has died and we are forced to make the best of the situation, because after all, survival mode is still in effect.

In recent times, I have not seen the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Aubrey Norton, nor have I heard a major statement from him. I have seen more of a vocal Amanza Walton-Desir. She is an intelligent woman and Guyana needs more young women like her. I listened to Ms. Desir and I sense she needs the support of others to make a comprehensive difference.

Where is Volda Lawerence, Juretha Fernandes and Cathy Hughes? What about Vanessa Kissoon and the others?  Is moving Guyana forward still a priority for them? I would believe but they must continue to do the work. I know there may be differences of opinion but this must be secondary to Guyana’s cause and future.

Editor, I want these women to come together and form a strong alliance. Guyana needs them. They have what it takes to propel our country forward. Don’t miss out on another opportunity to make a profound input. The ladies can do it, just rise to the occasion and make that difference. Remember, Guyana needs them and we can’t allow Guyana to slip through the rubble. Be her saviour.

Sincerely,

Yannason Duncan
