Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) romped to an eight-wicket win over Lusignan yesterday after Nkosi Beaton’s unbeaten half-century, played a pivotal role in taking his team into today’s final at Bourda Ground against West Demerara.
Lusignan toiled before being kept to 125 in 34.4 overs. Top-scorer Vikash Wilkinson (34), opener Ravindra Samaroo (28) and 29 from Nicholas Shiopersaud, highlighted an ordinary batting performance from Lusignan.
DCC’s Inderjeet Nanan led with ball as he ended with stingy figures of 4-2. Ezekiel Wilson and Daniel Mootoo returned identical figures of 2-25.
The chase was simple for the home team who skipped to 126-2 from a little over 20 overs, thanks to some classy batting between Beaton, who crunched 70 not out (5×6, 4×4) and Brandon Jaikaran, who ended on 30 not out opening one end of the batting.
DCC will face West Demerara at GCC in the Demerara leg final with the winner joining Albion and North Essequibo in the National Playoffs which will be played on Thursday and Friday also at GCC.
