Shakel Thomas, an 18-year-old of Laing Avenue, Georgetown, was arrested at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, on Sunday and was charged yesterday for possession of a firearm without a licence.
The defendant appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul and pleaded guilty to the charge. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
