At around 5 pm on Wednesday, acting on information received, Police ranks went to Lot 211 Garnett Street, Kitty and arrested Lawrence Pollard, a 50-year-old clothes vendor after finding a gun and ammunition.
The police said that a search was conducted on his person and a .32 pistol with a magazine containing five live rounds of .32 ammunition, was found in his pants pocket. He responded by saying “no” when asked if he was a licensed firearm holder. Lawrence was told of the offences committed, arrested and cautioned.
The police said that Pollard claimed that he found the firearm in a drain sometime back. He was escorted to the Kitty Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were marked sealed and lodged to be taken to the ballistic section for examination.
Lawrence was placed in custody and is expected to be charged.
