Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) booked their place in the Republic Bank Limited (RBL) Nationwide under-23 inter-club Super50 final after beating Albion by six wickets yesterday at Georgetown Cricket Club.
Winning the toss and opting to field, DCC raced to 130 for four in 32 overs, replying to Albion’s 128 all-out in 44.1 overs.
The Berbice giants were kept under wraps as DCC skipper Nkosi Beaton bagged 4-20 while getting support from left-arm spinner Daniel Mootoo with 3-20. DCC’s Indarjeet Nanan, Kareem Whitney, and Ricardo Percival were also among the wickets.
Damien Cecil top-scored for Albion with 37, while Arif Kadir and Naeem Khan had cameos of 20 and 16, respectively.
DCC’s chase was piloted by Brandon Jaikaran, who scored an unbeaten 52 from 89 balls. He struck two boundaries along the way. Nanan returned with bat in hand to score 23, while Jaden Campbell chipped in with 20. Shamar Yearwood and Jonathan Van Lange supported each other with 10 points each to see their side over the line. Cecil picked up 2-32 from his 10 overs.
The national final of the RBL U23 Inter-Club Super50 will be played today between Essequibo champions North Essequibo and DCC at GCC Ground.
