Crane Rovers, led by a second-half hat-trick from Kwesi Henry, overcame a two-goal first-half deficit to defeat Uprising 3-2 when the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued yesterday at the Tuschen ground.

Uprising started brightly and seized control of the contest as they recorded two conversions in the space of five minutes. Julian Anthony broke the deadlock as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 30th minute. Racing onto a through pass, Anthony, upon entering the penalty area, fired his effort under the advancing goalkeeper during a one-on-one situation.

The lead was quickly doubled in the 35th minute via a Nicol Fortune strike. It was a brilliant finish from the forward, who lobbed the ball over the head of the advancing goalkeeper and into the back of the net from just inside the 18-yard area.

However, it proved to be a game of two halves, as Henry made his presence felt. He reduced the deficit in the 50th minute, uncorking a powerful right-footed strike from a free-kick at the top of the penalty area that settled into the right-hand corner of the net.

The score was then leveled at 2-2 in the 60th minute as Henry completed his brace, cutting in from the left side of the field before blasting his effort from outside the 18-yard area into the left corner.

The unlikely result was then completed in the 70th minute, as Henry sealed his hat-trick. Latching onto a pass inside the center of the 18-yard box, Henry slotted his effort into the lower left corner.

Meanwhile, the Eagles unit clawed past Belle West 5-1. Nathan Lyvan tallied a brace in the 38th and 62nd minutes, whilst the trio of Shakeel King, Kevin Duke, and David Chisolm found the back of the net in the 35th, 70th, and 74th minutes, respectively.
