Dear Editor,
I read recently in the press of an Islamic Conference held in Guyana which the President and some of his Cabinet members attended. The report carried did not seem to indicate who the organizers and funders of this conference were. What bothers me is that we reside in a secular Republic. I am concerned that the role of the President in this leaves questions as to whether he is inappropriately using his Presidential office and powers to project Islam in Guyana. So I ask through your agency whether information can be provided publicly in response to this letter as to why the President and some of his Cabinet were there. Who funded this conference?
Sincerely,
(Name and Address Provided)
