League leader and undefeated outfit Slingerz FC maintained their perfect record in the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League, crushing aside No. #1 All-Stars 5-0 yesterday at the Tuschen ground.
The contest was effectively over at the halftime interval given the 2-0 score, and the ineffectiveness of the No. #1 All-Stars offense, who failed to trouble the Slingerz FC rearguard.
Rondel Peters slammed a powerful right footed shot past the opposing custodian to commence the rout in the 15th minute. Jamal Codrington then took centre stage, rifling his effort into the far corner to complete a dominant first half.
A Deon Alfred hat-trick was then produced in the second half following his introduction to the contest. A left footed strike into the back of the net from inside the area opened his account in the 65th minute. Alfred then completed his brace in the 81st minute, slotting home from inside the 18 yard area.
The completion of Alfred’s hat-trick occurred seven minutes later, as the forward blasted into the roof of the net.
Meanwhile, Wales defeated Uitvlugt 1-0.
