Forty-five-year-old Randolph Reece, a construction worker of Pari-ka, East Bank Essequibo, appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul charged with murdering a woman he was building a house for.
It was alleged that on 5th September at Parika, the defendant murdered Shannen Obermulla-Mohamed.
The defendant was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to prison until 13th Novem-ber, 2023.
Reece was arrested on September 6th, one day after the burnt body of the woman was found in the vicinity of the concrete house which was under construction.
The police reported that Mohammed’s burnt skull and torso were found among debris at the front of the incomplete, flat concrete structure.
The scene and environs were canvassed and a sledgehammer and crowbar were found near the burnt remains.
Police received information from a resident that around 10 am, she observed the defendant burning wood and other materials in the yard, but paid him no attention.
