Britton falls to Liang in round of 32

Guyana’s star table tennis player Shemar Britton yesterday lost his round of 32 encounter against Jishan Liang of the USA when play resumed at the Pan American Championships in Havana, Cuba.

Britton lost 6-11, 8-11, 7-11, and 8-11.

Ling, later went under to top seed Hugo Calderano of Brazil in the round of 16 encounter losing 6-11, 6-11, 7-11, and 8-11.

 Sid Naresh of the United States who upset Puerto Rico’s Daniel Gonzalez 4-3, almost produced the shock of the tournament before losing narrowly 3-4 to second seed Lorenzo Santiago after being up 3-2 in games.

In other round of 16 results, Nicolas Burgos defeated Vitor Ishy 4-2, Alberto Mino dispatched Gaston Alto 4-1, Eugene Wang defeated Eric Jouti 4-2, Guilherme Teodo stopped Marcos Madrid 4-1, Brian Afandor whipped Emiliano Riofrio 4-1 and Marcello Aguirre defeated Horacio Cifuentes 4-2.

In the women’s singles Round of 16, top seed Adriana Diaz stopped Daniela Fonseca Carrazana 4-1, Arantxa Cossio Aceves beat Pauline Vega 4-1, Guilia Takahashi defeated Estela Crespo 4-0, Amy Wang whipped Camila Arguelles 4-0, Bruna Takahashi defeated Rachel Sung 4-1, Mo Zhang beat Fabiola Diaz 4-0, Zhiying Zeng defeated Ana Codina 4-0 and Lily Yang  whipped Bruna Alexandre 4-0.
