Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill met with residents yesterday who were engaged in a protest at Kuru Kuru on the Soesdyke-Linden Highway concerning a deteriorating road that is earmarked for completion.
Edghill explained that the road under construction is valued $103 million while the other three roads that were recently constructed were valued $165 million.
Nadia (only name given), a secondary school teacher who resides in the neighbourhood, recounted that while she was travelling to the main road in a minibus on Wednesday, it almost overturned. Her daughter was flung forward, and she grabbed her for safety. She described how other passengers screamed in fear. Further, children are forced to walk a long distance because drivers are refusing to utilise the road.
