Cycling action returns on Sunday with the staging of a 50-mile road race sponsored by Team Alanis.
According to Guyana Cycling News’ Facebook page, the event, which is open to all cyclists, rolls off outside the Guyana Defense Force compound at 07:30 hrs. The peloton will then proceed to Mahaica before returning to the point of origin for the finish.
Masters over 50, females, juveniles, and mountain bikers will turn back at Belfield. The registration fee for the lucrative event is listed at $1500 per rider.
Prizes will be awarded to the top six finishers in the open category. The top three riders in the other categories will also be awarded prizes. The prize structure for the categories is as follows:
Elite/Open Category: 1st: $20,000; 2nd: $6,000; 3rd: $14,000; 4th: $20,000; 5th: $10,000; 6th: $8,000
