Dear Editor,
Permit me to thank Pt Ubraj Narine, Geeta Chandan and others for doing their duty as Hindus to protect our Dharma and for bringing this matter to the public’s attention.
My research informs me that the offending business Mr. Fried Chicken is run by a Chinese National located in the Evil Eyes building owned by a Guyanese from the Rosehall area.
I would sincerely hope that the Guyanese owner would seriously censure his tenant for this serious travesty against Hindus and caution him not to repeat this infraction or face expulsion from the premises. I do concede the possibility that this foreigner may not be aware of this major transgression of packaging meat in what seems to be bags normally used to pack Prasadam with symbols such as OM and the Trishul imprinted on them. However, i am informed that he has Guyanese employees who should certainly be aware of this and therefore there is a probability of a mischievous intent.
Whatever the case there must be an urgent and sincere public apology at a minimum by the owner of the business failing which Hindus must protest in front of his premises as well as boycott his /her business.
Further the Ethnic Relations Commission must visit this business without delay and warn this individual to cease this misguided and reprehensible practice immediately and issue their findings and actions in the press.
As a footnote this serves as a wake up call for us Guyanese as many persons migrating to this country in recent times are either atheists or are totally ignorant of our Hindu Dharma and maybe tests should be administered to these people of their basic understanding of norms within Guyanese society and particularly our cultural practices before they can be considered for residential status
Yours sincerely,
with Prem and Om
