The parent whose child was recently involved in a fight at the New Campbellville Secondary School that dominated several social media platforms is calling for action to be taken since her son suffered a series of blackouts and seizures.
The mother of the 14-year-old, told Stabroek News that her son is a third form student at the New Campbellville Secondary School. She explained that her son and a cousin (female) attend the school. The 14 year-old told his mother that the female cousin and his combatant shared a relationship. On Wednesday at the school, the female cousin began crying moments after the boy said something to her; he asked his cousin what was wrong, but she refused to answer.
The 14 year-old said he then approached the boy and asked what the issue was, but he responded: ‘boy don’t ask me nothing’. The 14 year-old told his mother he attempted to leave after the boy refused to answer and was shoved down by three others while the boy began kicking him especially in the head.
According to the video seen by Stabroek News, the 14 year-old was kicked in the head several times and he subsequently experienced what appeared to be seizures. His body became stiff for a period of time while students tried to assist him on the road. The mother said the doctor related that he was experiencing seizures followed by constant blackouts. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where a CT scan was done.
According to the mother, the doctor said no sign of a fracture was seen on the CT scan. However, since the teenager was continuing to experience blackouts, she was asked to seek a second opinion. She said her son was given medication for severe pain in the head and face.
The mother of eight, explained that the second opinion is expensive. Her desire is for action be taken against the perpetrator to avoid any recurrence that might involve other students.
Additionally, the woman said that she and her son have been receiving threats.
Representatives from the Ministry of Education have contacted the mother.
