After serving the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for almost 37 years, Inspector Lyndon Wilson, has retired.
Wilson was enlisted in the GPF on March 25, 1987.
A release from the GPF said that during his tenure, he served 25 years at the Police Sports Secretariat.
Wilson encouraged young persons to join the police force, stating that many opportunities await them.
“It will give you that scope to understand life and what it’s all about, and this is the hallmark I would always say, I would never turn my back on the Force. So for those who are still in, I know there are aspects especially when it comes to promotion, there’s a lot of people who look forward to promotion and when they do not get it they begin doing negative things,” he said.
In light of this, his advice was focused on continuity, where he encouraged ranks to keep doing their best and make the Force proud while executing their duties. He also reminded them that nothing is attained by sudden flight but through hard work and dedication.
A celebration in his honour was held at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, on Friday, September 15, 2023. During the ceremony, he received tokens of appreciation and well wishes from friends, family members, and colleagues in the GPF family.
