It beggars belief that this Venezuelan objection is a coincidence

Dear Editor,

The Qataris brokered the Prisoner for Cash swap between Iran and the USA, they were able to do this because Qataris are go-betweens for the rogue elements/nations and the rest of the world; it is therefore more than passing strange that mere days after the Amir of Qatar visited Guyana and announced plans to open an embassy in Georgetown, a problem for which the Qataris unique ‘skills’ are invaluable has surfaced.

Venezuela, a rogue nation and notable ally of Iran has objected to Guyana’s sale of oil blocks; Venezuela has had over a year to object to the oil Block auction and nary a murmur of dissent was heard, it beggars belief then that the objection is a coincidence. Analysts have posited that the Iran prisoner swap exposed the weakness of the Biden administration’s foreign policy; is the Venezuelan objection another test of that mettle? We must ask ourselves if our newfound friends have manufactured a crisis to gain from our newfound wealth, a quid pro quo perhaps. Guyana has held portions of the Stabroek Block relinquished by ExxonMobil for bilateral development. The game’s afoot and now Guyana will be measured by how we deal with the wolf we invited into the sheep meadow.

Sincerely,
