Eagles soared past Crane Rovers by a 7-3 score-line when the West Demerara Football Association senior men’s league continued yesterday at the Tuschen ground.
A total of six goals were recorded in the first half of the encounter when the Eagles unit clawed their way to a 4-2 lead after initially trailing 1-2.
David Chisolm, the eventual scorer of a helmet-trick, opened the scoring for the Eagles in the second minute. However, Crane responded through Adami Hoyte, who found the back of the net twice in the space of five minutes to push Crane into the lead at 2-1.
Hoyte recorded the equalizer with a powerful strike into the back of the net in the sixth minute, before completing his brace in the 11th minute as he lashed his effort into the right side. Nonetheless, Eagles responded in equal measure, crafting three unanswered goals in the space of eight minutes to take control of the first half.
Kevin Duke blasted his effort into the roof of the net in the 23rd minute to equalize. Chisolm then secured his brace two minutes later with a strike into the left corner to push Eagles ahead by 3-2. Neshawn Livan then made his presence felt, rifling past the opposing custodian from inside the area in the 31st minute to push the score to 4-2.
Rovers briefly threatened to produce a comeback in the second half, reducing the deficit to 4-3 through Kwesi Henry, who slotted into the right side of the net in the 46th minute. However, any hopes of Crane securing a positive result were quickly extinguished as Eagles tallied three conversions in seven minutes.
Chisolm was once again at the forefront as he completed his brace in the 50th minute to make it 5-3, before Shaquille King etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 55th minute, slamming a powerful effort beyond the grasp of the custodian. The result was then sealed as Chisolm completed his four-goal haul in the 57th minute, slotting into the back of the net from inside the area.
