Police in Region Seven have arrested a gold miner in relation to the murder of the Venezuelan woman in her home at Kaikan.
According to a police press release, the dead woman, 28-year-old Estephanie Garcia, lived in a wooden cottage at Kaikan with her husband Elvis Trotman and her three children.
At about 17:00 hrs on Thursday, her husband left for Venezuela, where he works, and at about 07:30 hrs on Friday, the three children left for Kaikan Primary School, leaving Garcias at home alone, the police said.
On their return from school, the children discovered their mother lying motionless on the floor with what appeared to be blood around her neck.
An alarm was raised, and neighbours responded and subsequently reported the matter at Kaikan Police Station.
Garcia’s body was taken to the Kaikan Health Centre, where she was pronounced dead by Health Worker Rebecca Charlie. It remains there under police guard as the investigation continues
