With the aim of addressing issues and concerns affecting members of the Guyana Police Force, its Office of Professional Responsibility( OPR) recently conducted an outreach with ranks within the Regional Division #8 at the Mahdia Police Station.
The outreach, which was held on September 21st was led by OPR Inspector Bissoon who mentioned several issues that were cause for concern, according to a release from the force.
Inspector Bissoon and Sergeant Sandy warned the ranks to desist from acting contrary to the force’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Meantime, the release said the ranks raised several questions, and the OPR team gave clarity. The subordinate officers were encouraged to do training with the other ranks so as to help them now and in the future.
Commander Khalid Mandall, in his remarks to the OPR team, highlighted the value of such an initiative. He also emphasized the need to enlighten and sensitize ranks under his command. He encouraged ranks to ask questions, seek clarity from the OPR team, and give feedback where necessary, the release said.
“Commander Mandall spoke sternly to ranks about the consequences if they deviated from the force’s SOPs or acted in a manner to discredit the force,” it added.
The OPR team also interacted with the ranks in the division regarding the roles and responsibilities of the OPR and what is required of the ranks.
