(Trinidad Guardian) Three months after gunmen murdered his brother Kevon “Faces” Andrews, Keyon Andrews suffered a similar fate on Thursday when a gunman brazenly shot him in the street. Andrews, 30, of Orchid Gardens, Pleasantville, was walking along Chaconia Avenue around 9 am with Kerry Richards.

The men worked at the San Fernando City Corporation and were standing in front of the District Office when a gunman approached and shot them several times.

Andrews, a sanitation worker, died on the scene while someone took Richards to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he remains warded in a critical condition.

It was a horrific scene for Pleasantville residents and passersby, who saw Andrew’s body lying at the corner of Pleasantville Circular and Chaconia Avenue. It is a busy area with the Pleasantville Plaza, Pleasantville Health Centre, Pleasantville Community Centre and four schools nearby. Relatives gathered at the scene, getting a full view as Southern Division Crime Scene Investigators combed the area and recovered nine bullet casings.

The grief was all too familiar for Andrews’ mother, Debra Reid, who was already struggling to come to terms with the killing of her other son, Kevon

Reid could hardly speak at the scene.

Kevon, a Trinibad artiste, and his friend Kristian Lindsay were at Building C, Orchid Gardens, on June 28.

Police said around 8 pm, gunmen ran into the building and shot them. Andrews died at the scene while Lindsay died at the hospital an hour later.

Police said they knew Andrews as a robbery and drug offender.
