Hard-fought wins highlighted the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League as the Eagles and Crane overcame the challenges of Uprising and Wales, respectively, at the Tuschen ground.
The Eagles clawed their way past the Uprising 2-0. David Chisolm secured the result as he crafted a first-half brace. Chisolm opened his account in the 23rd minute, cutting in from the right side and dribbling a defender before uncorking a powerful strike from inside the box into the back of the net.
He would then double his account in the 35th minute, slotting his effort into the far corner from inside the penalty area after receiving the final pass following a passing combination that emanated from the midfield area.
In the same vein, Crane squeaked past Wales 1-0. Seon Stephens recorded the only conversion of the match via a 32nd-minute strike. The aforesaid conversion was somewhat fortuitous, owing to a goalkeeping blunder, as the initial strike from Stephens from inside the area was spilt by the custodian, allowing the onrushing forward to slot the loose ball into the back of the net.
