Port Kaituma and Rupununi recorded hard-fought wins in the men and women’s divisions respectively when the Amerindian Heritage Games Football Championship continued Friday evening at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Carifesta Avenue and Camp Road. In the men’s division, Port Kaituma edged Rupununi 2-1. Romel Eudoxie netted for the victory in the 27th minute, while an own goal in the 55th minute added to the score. For the loser, Stephen McDonald netted in the 64th minute. In the women’s category, Rupununi defeated Port Kaituma 2-0. Normally Williams and Dengarlie James found the back of the net in the fifth and 13th minutes, respectively.
Also, Lake Mainstay squeaked past Itabac 1-0 via a Samuel Garnett conversion in the 69th minute in the men’s section.
