GT Kanaimas and Coomacka tallied wins in the women’s division while Paruima and Lake Mainstay recorded victories in the men’s section respectively, when the Amerindian Heritage Games Football Championship continued on Saturday evening at the Everest Cricket Club grounds, Carifesta Avenue, and Camp Road.
In the women’s pool, GT Kanaimas thrashed Rupununi 6-0. Jalade Trim led the rout with a hat-trick in the 33rd, 42nd, and 53rd minutes, while Shanic Thornhill bagged a double in the 46th and 61st minutes. Annalise Larson opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
On the other hand, Coomacka bested Rupununi 3-1. Sandra Johnson tallied a hat-trick in the 14th, 30th, and 54th minutes. For the loser, Tanya Devir found the back of the net in the 33rd minute.
In the men’s segment, Paruima defeated Port Kaituma 5-4 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended at 2-2. Deco Francis and Bedford Thompson scored for the eventual winner in the 30th and 68th minutes, while Port Kaituma netted in the third and 33rd minutes via Romel Eudoxie and Julian Joseph, respectively.
Meanwhile, Lake Mainstay downed Siparuta 3-1. Samuel Garnett tallied a second-half brace in the 68th and 69th minutes, while Rondey De Jonge netted in the 34th minute. On target for the loser was Ryan Morris in the 20th minute.
