Young sprint sensation Nolex Holder established himself as Guyana’s leading senior male sprinter by blazing his way to the sprint double at the Athletics Association of Guyana’s (AAG) National Senior Championships last weekend.
Tianna Springer, the 16-year-old made even more strides in asserting herself as one of the country’s top female track and field stars. Holder, who continues to impress, added the men’s 200m to the 100m event he won last Friday winning in 21.07 seconds, just pipping Guyana Defence Force’s Shamar Horatio (21.08 seconds) with the latter’s club mate Akeem Stewart closing out the podium in 21.18s.
Over in the men’s 400m, GDF’s Simeon Adams strode home without much competition to take the gold in 49.19 seconds with Joshua Lam and youngster Malachi Austin having to settle for joint second place after finishing in a tie with a time of 49.56 seconds.
