The Beacons won the Rats Memorial Football Championship, defeating Potaro Strikers on 3-2 penalty kicks on Saturday evening at the Bartica Community Centre ground.

Locked 0-0 at the end of full time, Potaro commenced the penalty shoot-out and converted from the distance. However, the Beacons fell behind as they failed to score on their first attempt. The scores would then be locked at 1-1 at the end of the second round as Potaro failed to score and the Beacons converted. Potaro retook the lead at 2-1 at the conclusion of the third round as they scored while the Beacons missed. However, the fourth round mirrored the second as Potaro once failed to convert, while Beacons netted to level proceedings at 2-2.

The contest was then decided in the fifth round as Potaro failed to score once again, which allowed Beacons the opportunity to convert, which they capitalized on to win the championship.

Meanwhile, Rising Stars defeated Rivers View 2-1 in the third-place playoff.
