Lusignan Golf Course (LGC) President, Patanjilee Persaud, won the B Flight category of the Suriname Open golf competition last weekend.
Two other Guyanese Avinash Persaud and Shanella London were second overall in the best gross male and female categories.
Sabi Dhori was second in her flight and Eureka Giddings won the longest drive.
Speaking at the end of the tournament LGC’s Persaud, said, “You know, I would say golf has become so competitive. As for my performance, I thought it was excellent. I put a lot into it. But I really feel that the challenge of the greens was much more. I’m sorry, we didn’t retain the championship trophy for Flights A and C. However, I am still grateful that we were able to claim second place in those categories.”
While disappointed that the ladies did not excel to the point of then winning the number one trophy, Persaud opined that it was still a great tournament for both the men and the women.
“The tournament was lots of fun and we saw a lot of Guyanese coming out and we just want to thank the Surinamese for being so hospitable,” Persaud shared.
The tournament which began on October 7 saw two days of non-stop action. As expected, golfers who were present at the Suriname Open, will in turn participate in the GTT Guyana Open tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) on October 28 -29.
