The pocket size tourist guide hand book, “Guyana Where and What”, has, now, in 2023 accomplished 15 years of continuous production annually except for 2021 because of the COVID pandemic.
Published by General Executive Management Services (G.E.M.S. Inc), the guide book is the brainchild of its publisher and editor, Gem Madhoo-Nascimento.
A release from G.E.M.S. Inc said that World Cup Cricket in 2007 inspired the first publication and since then without fail, a new edition has graced the magazine stands of many tourism resorts, tour operator destinations, hotels, guest houses and travel agencies.
The publication has also found its way into many schools for teachers interested in expanding their knowledge of Guyana and sharing it with their students. The book is free and is paid for by advertising.
During the Covid years, the release said that it was very difficult to keep publishing, but thanks to the continuous support of many Government agencies and some private sector organisations, only one year was missed.
The release said that the 140-page guide book continues to provide an exceptionally useful guide for the many visitors to these shores whether on holiday or business. The detailed map of Georgetown and Guyana in the book provides useful information to assist the visitor to wend their way around the city and country.
