A motorcyclist died yesterday after colliding with a car on Sir David Rose Public Road (Five Corner) at Mackenzie, Linden
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Keon Marvin of Mackenzie, Linden.
The accident which occurred at approximately 10.45 am, involved a motor car, PAE 6091, owned and driven by Denzel Naipaul, 22, a resident of Ituni and the now deceased Marvin, who was riding motorcycle, CH 6074.
Investigations revealed that at the time of the incident, Naipaul was driving with two passengers; an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old, both from Ituni and was proceeding east along Sir David Rose Public Road in Mackenzie. The motorcycle was being ridden in the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses, as the car and motorcycle approached the said intersection, the car made a sudden right turn into Washer Pond Road and ended up in the path of the motorcyclist, who collided with the left rear door of the car.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung some distance onto the roadway, sustaining severe injuries.
Marvin was picked up by public-spirited citizens in
an unconscious condition and rushed to the Mackenzie Public Hospital, where he succumbed while being treated.
The body was subsequently taken to Pensioner’s Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The driver of the car is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
