A new champion will be crowned in the 10th edition of the Courts Pee Wee Football Championship after Potaro eliminated defending champion Enterprise 1-0 in their quarterfinal match yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Michael Telemacque recorded the only conversion of the contest in the sixth minute. Potaro will now oppose Redeemer in the semifinal after the latter overcame St. Stephen’s 3-2 in a rematch from the group stage segment.
The trio of Adiel Hamilton, Jarel Richards and David De Costa etched their names on the scorer’s sheet in the seventh, 29th and 30th minute respectively. On target in the loss with a double in the sixth and 10th minute was Kareem Milton.
Meanwhile, traditional rivals West Ruimveldt and St. Pius will face off in the second semifinal following hard-fought quarterfinal wins.
West Ruimveldt edged Den Amstel 3-2 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Prior to the conclusion, Teon Francis equalised for West Ruimveldt in the 31st minute, after Osafo Abrams had given Den Amstel the lead in the 23rd minute.
On the other hand, St. Pius downed Marian Academy 2-0. Daniel Chesney and Aaron Vasconcellos netted in the first and 15th minutes, respectively.
