Sideline Adam defeated Ogle Street 1-0 to earn their final’s berth when the 2023 Beterverwagting (BV) Inter-Block Football Championship resumed on Friday evening at the Community Centre ground.
The cagey contest, which failed to produce a conversion in regulation time, was decided by a moment of brilliance from Steven Miller in the 103rd minute of extra time. Receiving the ball outside the penalty area, burly midfielder Miller uncorked a curling right-footed effort that sailed beyond the reach of the goalkeeper and settled into the top corner.
Also, BV Masters and Club 45 battled to a 1-1 draw in a Masters encounter. Mark Cromwell scored for BV Masters, while Club 45 equalised in the form of Clive Davis. Meanwhile, the sideline U17 unit defeated the frontside U17 outfit by a 2-0 score.
The event, which is coordinated by Team Cruel and DJ Darry, will resume on Friday, at the same venue as the second semifinal encounter, as Republic Drive will lock horns with the Gulf Warriors. The first, second, third, and fourth-place prizes for the event are $300,000, $200,000, $100,000, and $50,000, respectively.
