On Friday, eighty-two persons from all the regions of Guyana graduated from the Ministry of Health’s Patients Care Assistant, Orthopaedic Technician and Operating Room Technician programme which is being offered via the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
A release from the Ministry of Health said that the Patient Care Assistant Training is designed to prepare a cadre of caregivers to undertake basic technical skills under the supervision of the registered nurse/ Supervisor, while the Operating Room Technician and Orthopedic technician programme focuses on the trainees working alongside and assisting orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and other members of the health care team throughout a surgical operation. The training programmes lasted for one year.
