A 34-year-old miner was arrested yesterday during a police raid in Regional Division #8.
The ranks, acting on information received, went to the home of Anthony Denny, called ‘Antsman’, at St. Elizabeth Backdam, Potaro-Siparuni.
Police searched Denny’s house, but nothing illegal was found. A further search was carried out on his person, and a transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found in his left side pants pocket.
Denny was cautioned by the Police and responded: “Sir, I does use this weed for my asthma.” He was arrested and escorted to Mahdia Police Station along with the suspected cannabis, which was weighed and amounted to eight grammes.
Denny was then placed into custody and is slated to be charged.
