Dear Editor,
The very clear, positive and meaningful way forward to fix NIS, among the many rhetoric, came from its Chairman at the recent anniversary event. It was posited that the laws and regulations governing the operations of the entity need to be upgraded and amended in order for NIS to become relevant in the twenty-first century. It was reasoned 1969 to 2023 is a big time gap to many things. NIS must evolve to suit present day dynamics in a changing world, or it would have failed in its mandate. An admission a little late by the Chair but still it came. NIS is fixable but only if the will is there. Is it?
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
