The National Milling Company (NAMILCO) Monday renewed for another year, its sponsorship of two Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) cricket teams.
The ceremony took place at the company’s Agricola Village Head Office, East Bank Demerara.
The contract was signed by NAMILCO’s Managing Director, Bert Sukhai and the club’s Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster in the presence of the company’s marketing coordinator, Alicia Anderson.
Foster, President of the Berbice Cricket Board stated that NAMILCO has been the official sponsor of the club’s under-21 and first-division teams since late 2019 and the teams were very delighted with the sponsorship renewal.
Foster said that the teams were proud to represent the NAMILCO brand on and off the cricket field as the company was a true friend to them and the club. The Rose Hall Town NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour team has been the most dominant first-division team in Berbice recently and has won several tournaments while producing numerous national players at all levels for Guyana. Last year the RHTYSC produced a combined 22 players for Guyana while another 15 members played for the country in 2024, a release from the club stated.
Foster also said that the club had six players in this year’s Caribbean Premier League and has three players on the Guyana Cricket Board list of contracted players.
The RHT Namilco first- division team under acting captain Clinton Pestano, Saturday last reached the final of the BCB 2023 Ivan Madray 20/20 tournament.
The captain Kelvon Anderson and all-rounder Kevin Sinclair are currently with the Guyana Regional Super50 team in Trinidad.
Foster also disclosed that the club was successful in completing over 60 self-development programmes under the sponsorship.
Foster committed the two teams to continue representing the NAMILCO brand with pride, discipline and dedication.
Sukhai, in brief remarks, said that his company was pleased to be associated with the cricket teams and was very satisfied with its investment. He added that his company receives regular progress reports and public relations benefits. He congratulated the players on a job well done and wished them all the best in the future.
