The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will stage its constitutionally mandated Electoral Congress on December 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the National Training Centre, Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The official notice, which was acquired by this publication, was sent to the respective member associations, affiliates, and elite league clubs on Wednesday.
According to the correspondence, “The formal convocation of the 2023 Electoral Congress of the GFF and additional information and documentation as required by and stipulated by Article 29 of the GF States shall be made in writing no fewer than seven days before the date of the Congress by no later than Saturday, December 2, 2023.”
The correspondence further stated, “The election for the GFF Council Members will take place in accordance with the guidelines and procedures of the GFF States and GFF Electoral Code under the supervision of the GFF Electoral Committee.”
The positions that will be contested at the election are: President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 3rd Vice President, and 5 Ordinary Members. A minimum of two women shall feature on each contesting slate.
The Wayne Forde-led administration, which contested the polls under the moniker of Team Integrity, was first elected to office in 2015, defeating the Nigel Hughes Team Unity faction 12-10 at the Marriott Hotel in Kingston. He replaced the FIFA-appointed Normalisation Committee, which was headed by Clinton Urling.
The Forde administration was then re-elected unopposed when the entity conducted its Electoral Congress at an Extraordinary Congress on November 9th, 2019, at the Pegasus Hotel. Forde is once again expected to contest for the top post following the adoption of the third-term statute in 2022. No other competing slate has been announced at this time.
