(Trinidad Express) There were two mass shootings overnight, as gunmen ambushed a wake in Carapichaima and a birthday party in Sangre Grande.
Four people were shot dead, and five others were hospitalised with gunshot injuries in the two incidents.
The deceased were identified as Keston Lawrence, alias Big Shane, of Longdenville; Dwayne Charles, of Couva, Francis Munroe, of Freeport, and Jessie Baptiste of North Eastern Settlement.
In Carapichaima, shortly after midnight on Friday gunfire rang out at a wake at which Lawrence, Charles, and Munroe and three other shooting victims and several other people attended on Orangefield Road.
Lawrence and Charles were pronounced dead at the crime scene.
Munroe died hours later at the hospital.
In a separate incident at around 2.15 a.m., Baptiste and others were at a house celebrating a birthday when multiple rounds of gunfire were heard.
Three people were taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital.
Baptiste was pronounced dead at around 2.55 a.m.
The killings took the murder toll to 473.
