Dear Editor,
It was good to see the broadcasting regulatory body coming out of its comatose and dormant state flagging infractions in the radio and television media. But the infractions cited are for this year. What about the years from the time the body was (re)constituted? With infractions noted, however, it would appear no consequence was meted out to errant broadcasting entities. At this very critical time with the controversy with Venezuela in full raging mode, irresponsible statements and comments laced with misinformation can be to our disadvantage and can lead to possible devastating consequences. Broadcasters have a duty to portray a unified and patriotic stance and views aimed at cementing our national values in the face of adversary, particularly now with Venezuela’s aggression.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
