A Massy supermarket will replace the Giftland Mall FoodMaxx Supermarket soon, sources say, placing two of the Trinidad and Tobago-headquartered food stores in close proximity to each other on the East Coast of Demerara.
Stabroek News was told by sources that the decision by Giftland to have a Massy supermarket branch at the facility was beneficial for both parties as it “aligns with plans that both have for the future”.
When FoodMaxx was opened in 2017, Chairman of the Giftland Group Roy Beepat had said he was confident that it would revolutionise grocery shopping in Guyana.
FoodMaxx, which is located on the ground floor of the mall at Plantation Pattensen, Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara, occupies a total floor space of 52,000 sq. ft.
Beepat had also told this newspaper that the supermarket was expected to mirror international standards.
Massy opened its first in a chain of supermarkets here in March of 2016.
