Teron Cameron, a 25-year-old man of Patentia, West Bank Demerara was on Monday afternoon arrested after he allegedly attempted to smuggle 24.01 grammes of cannabis to his friend in the Lusignan Prison.
He was arrested by officials of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) after he allegedly tried to smuggle the drug to a friend who is incarcerated.
According to the GPS release, Cameron allegedly found a way to package the drugs under his pair of slippers. Prison officials who were suspicious decided to check the footwear out of curiosity and in the process, found a quantity of seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis. He was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.
