The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 4 Engineer Battalion, in collaboration with the Region Five Council, recently completed a timber footpath bridge for the communities of Blairmont and Balthyock.
A release from the GDF said that the 60-foot by 5-foot bridge replaces an older, unsafe bridge. The bridge connects the Blairmont Main Road to the Balthyock New Scheme. The design was submitted by the council, and the construction was executed by the ranks of the 4 Engineer Battalion.
Staff Officer One Plans and Supervision, Lieutenant Colonel Kennard Liverpool, on Monday, October 30, 2023, conducted a site inspection and officially handed over the bridge to Region Five Regional Engineer Dhanpall Sukh, the GDF said.
