The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the Ministry of Agriculture yesterday teamed up for a Farmers Market on the lawns outside Base Camp Ayanganna Playfield.
The market opened at 5.30 am but a release from the GDF said that many shoppers were on the spot even before 5 am for an early bargain.
By 5.30 am, hundreds of people had joined to explore the one-stop shop for fresh, locally sourced goodies and an array of products crafted by farmers and entrepreneurs.
The release said that the event also afforded the Force an opportunity to display the agricultural prowess of the GDF Agriculture Corps.
