Police are searching for a teenager who allegedly murdered 17-year-old Shawn Persaud called ‘Buckman’ of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice during an argument on Saturday evening.
According to the police, Persaud was killed around 19:00 hrs on Saturday at Adelphi Village, East Canje, Berbice.
Investigations revealed that another 17-year-old, known as ‘Lion’, allegedly stabbed Persaud. A villager told investigators that he heard shouts that ‘Buckman get bore’, and ran to the cross street in Adelphi Village, where he joined a crowd that had gathered and saw Persaud lying on the ground. Persaud was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty, the police said.
According to information gathered by this newspaper, Persaud and ‘Lion’ were at a location just over the Adelphi Bridge when an argument ensued during which he was stabbed.
Investigations are continuing.
