Pacesetters, Eagles, and Kobras tallied victories when the One Guyana Basketball League continued Sunday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Pacesetters downed Kwakwani 66-54 with Tafawa Daly, Zion Grey, Jaleel Duke and Joslyn Crawford netting 13, 12, 10, and 10 points respectively.
For Kwakwani, Domair Gladstone and Stanton Rose Jr., scored 19 and 10 points respectively.
In another fixture, Elijah David with 21 points, led Kobras past Pepsi Sonics 59-45.
Carlos Edwards was the next best scorer with 15 points while Trevor Smith chipped in with nine points. For Pepsi Sonics, Junior Lovell and Earl O’Neil scored 13 points each while Joel Schultz added 10 points. In the final fixture, Eagles soared past Nets 61-50. Travis Belgrave netted 20 points while Sherland Gillis and Denzil Ross supported with 18 and 13 points, respectively. For Nets, Travis Stewart recorded 18 points.
The tournament, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport (MCY&S) and G-Boats Incorporated, is being run by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation. It forms part of the National Sports Academy and features 14 teams divided into two conferences, the Harpy Eagles and Jaguars respectively.
A minimum of 56 fixtures and a maximum of 63 matches are projected for the competition which concludes in March 2024. The winner of the tournament will pocket $1,000,000, while the loser will receive $500,000.
