The Guyana Police Force yesterday dismissed as grossly inaccurate a misleading social media post last evening by someone named Alice Seetaram under the bold caption, ‘URGENT! PLEASE SHARE! MY FATHER IS MISSING!’
The police said that checks made in the division confirm that Deocharran Seetaram, the purportedly ‘missing person’, is not missing and very much alive.
“In fact, he was just contacted and interviewed (via a video call) by the Commander for Regional Police Division #6, Senior Superintendent Shivpersaud Bacchus. The elderly man indicated that he is not sure why such a claim was made that he is missing”, the police said.
The Guyana Police Force would like to urge persons, both here and overseas, to desist from making misleading posts that can cause public unease.
