The police are currently investigating the death of a two-month-old baby, Allison Ram, of Agatash Village, Region Seven.
The body of the two-month-old was found motionless in a chair some 10 minutes after her mother returned from the washroom which was about 20 metres away.
Enquiries revealed that around 14.30 hours on Wednesday, the infant’s 17-year-old mother left her child (Ram) lying in a chair wrapped in a sheet and went to use the washroom about 20 metres away.
Upon her return about 10 minutes later, she checked on the child and noticed that her body was motionless in the chair. The mother immediately took the infant to the Agatash Health Centre, where she was examined by a medic who then referred the infant to the Bartica Regional Hospital. On arrival little Ram was examined and pronounced dead.
The infant was checked, and no marks of violence were observed.
The body is at the Bartica Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
