The official launch of the MVP Sports Girls Pee Wee U11 Football Championship was officially launched yesterday at the entity’s Giftland Mall location in Turkey.

The 7th iteration of the event, which is scheduled to start on November 18th, is slated to conclude on December 9th. The competing schools, which will contest an initial group stage, are expected to emanate from Region #3, Georgetown, Region #4, Region #5, Region #6, Region #7, and Region #10. All matches will be staged at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The winner of the event will receive $150,000 towards a school project and a trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $100,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively, towards a school initiative and the corresponding accolade.

On the individual side, prizes will also be awarded for the eventual Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper.

Petra Organisation Co-Director Troy Mendonca praised the company for their assistance in staging an important event that has become embedded in the organisation’s programme, noting that he anticipates an exciting tournament as approximately 20 schools have indicated interest in participating.

He further thanked the other stakeholders and sponsors, including the Ministry of Education, GFF, and Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport, for their invaluable contribution in making the event a reality.

Meanwhile, Ian Ramdeo, CEO of MVP Sports, said that the company is no stranger to the Petra Organisation or the sporting fraternity, adding that it is one of the few sports-related establishments that has a mandate to support the sector and has partnered with Petra because of their programmes, which target youth development football.

He further said that the entity is pleased to be associated with the promotional group’s ongoing developmental drive, noting that the lack of continuity has often plagued youth-level sports and that what Petra continues to employ in their programme should be commended.

According to Ramdeo, the expansion of the tournament should be the next logical step, and the company will continue to support the event for the foreseeable future.
