A 78-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a car on the Adventure Public Road, Soesdyke-Linden Highway on Saturday night and the driver is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
According to a police release, the incident which occurred around 18:30 hrs on Saturday, involved a car PXX 1989 (white Toyota 212), owned and driven by Daniel James, 28, of Mackenzie and Frank London of Adventure Village, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. The release said enquiries disclosed that the car was proceeding north along the western side of the road when the driver alleged that he saw a man sitting on the road in his lane. The driver said he pulled east to avoid a collision, but because of the short distance, the front left portion of the vehicle collided with the man.
