Police ranks in Regional Division #5 found 50 pounds (27,000 grams) of suspected cannabis in an aluminum boat next to the Cabbage Factory koker. The police said that two unidentifiable men escaped into the bushes.
A police press release stated that ranks conducting mobile patrol duties in the Blairmont Police Station District at about 23:30 hours on Friday were in the vicinity of the Rosignol Stelling, where they observed two unidentifiable men walking in the immediate proximity of the ‘Cabbage Factory’ koker. On seeing the police, the men ran in different directions escaping into the bushes. Police ranks then observed an aluminum boat with a 15 hp outboard engine next to the koker.
The boat was searched and five parcels wrapped with transparent plastic containing the suspected cannabis were found. The suspected narcotic, boat and engine were confiscated and lodged at the Blairmont Police Station. The parcels of suspected cannabis were weighed and amounted to 50 pounds (22,700 grams). It was then sealed and lodged. Investigations are ongoing.
