A 30-year-old self-employed Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice, man who asked the police to ‘do a thing for yuh boy’ after he was found in possession with suspected forged Guyana $5,000 notes’ currency was arrested on Saturday after a stop and search exercise in front of the Fort Wellington Police Station in West Berbice.
A police press statement said that during the ‘stop and search’ exercise, a white motor car bearing license plate number PTT 9098 overtook several vehicles on the solid double lines in full view of the ranks and was stopped. One of the police ranks informed the driver of the offence and asked for his relevant documents, to which he refused. The driver then began behaving in a disorderly manner and was instructed to park in the Fort Wellington Police Station compound.
