Chase Academy climbed to the summit of the Limacol Schools Football League, defeating Carmel by a 1-0 score in the top-of-the-table clash yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Chase Academy maintained their perfect record in the event with a Bevon Jones strike in the 70th minute. Latching onto the ball outside the centre of the penalty area, Jones evaded the challenge of an onrushing defender before unleashing a left-footed strike into the lower left corner.
With the outcome, Chase Academy climbed onto 12 points, while Carmel remained on nine points and dropped into third place owing to a weaker goal differential.
Meanwhile, Santa Rosa defeated defending champion Wismar/Christianburg 1-0. It was the fourth consecutive loss for the Linden outfit, which has yet to earn a point in the tournament. Darius Williams recorded the only conversion of the match in the 49th minute.
On the other hand, Ann’s Grove and Mackenzie High battled to a 1-1 stalemate. Jaylan Chapman scored for Mackenzie in the 12th minute, while Joshua Luke equalised for Anns’ Grove in the 31st minute. Also, Bartica defeated East Ruimveldt via walkover. Due to the aforesaid outcome, Bartica was awarded a 2-0 win and three points.
The first, second, third, and fourth-place prizes are $300,000, $150,000, $75,000, and $50,000, respectively. On the individual side, the resulting Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper will also be awarded.
